Non-Surveillance IoT · Harm Recovery

What if self-exclusion
actually worked?

A private recovery companion — with an optional consent-based wearable — that helps people sustain the self-exclusion choices they make. No facial recognition. No biometric surveillance. No continuous tracking.

BannedBands — What if self-exclusion actually worked?
The Technology

The BannedBands Core Hardware System

Tamper-resistant physical endpoints working in harmony with localized perimeter proximity tracking.

Locking Integrity

A sealed, tamper-evident band worn by choice — an optional physical cue to help hold the line you set for yourself.

📡

Decentralised BLE

Zero-surveillance Bluetooth Low Energy proximity triggers communicate locally with venue configurations — without broad cloud storage tracking.

Efficient Power

A low-energy architecture with a weekly 30-second integrity check, powered by a sealed long-life battery lasting approximately nine months — no charging required.

⚠️

Tamper Alerts

Tamper-evident design flags interference attempts. The band is a personal support tool, not a legal exclusion record.

What we do — and what we don't

Honesty builds trust. Here is exactly where BannedBands and Sentra sit.

✓ We do

  • Provide a private recovery companion (check-ins, plans, tools, progress)
  • Offer an optional, consent-led wearable as a personal cue
  • Guide setup of trusted third-party online blockers and bank controls
  • Connect people to NZ support services (Gambling Helpline and others)
  • Keep wellbeing data under the user's control

✗ We don't

  • Create or manage a legal self-exclusion order
  • Use facial recognition or biometric identification
  • Block gambling websites or apps ourselves
  • Share personal wellbeing data with venues
  • Guarantee that someone cannot enter a venue

Formal self-exclusion is managed by official providers and venue processes. We help people live with the choice they have made.
